Wayne County coach Rodney Woods started the following lineup: 6-1 Fr. Corey Stearns, 6-0 Fr. Trey Blevins, 6-0 Sr. Dagan Shelton, 5-9 Jr. Jason Perkins, and 6-2 So. Peyton Woods.  Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-9 Sr. Jack Whitman, 6-3 Sr. Evan Fraliex, 6-5 Sr. Tom Banahan, 5-11 Sr. Dillon Avare, and 6-2 So. Jarod Griffin.

Wayne County led 36-19 early in the third quarter but Lexington Catholic went on a 19-0 run to take a 38-36 lead on their way to a 62-59 victory over an undersized but talented Cardinal team.  Wayne County had one last possession to tie but could not get open for a good shot at the basket.  Lexington Catholic shot 46.3% from the field including four of 20 from the three point line.  The Knights connected on eight of 16 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 14 points off nine Wayne County turnovers.  Wayne County shot 36.1% from the field including 11 of 31 from beyond the arc.  The Cardinals connected on four of seven free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 10 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

6-5 So. Tanner Johnson led Lexington Catholic with 15 points including three three point baskets and seven rebounds.  Jack Whitman added 12 points, 13 rebounds, and four blocked shots.  6-3 So. Reese Ryan also scored 12 points and five rebounds.  5-10 So. Michael Talbott provided a spark tonight with his slashing drives to the basket and added 10 points.

Corey Stearns led Wayne County with 15 points and eight rebounds.  Peyton Woods added 13 points including three three point baskets and six rebounds.  Trey Blevins chipped in with 12 points on four three point baskets and dished out five assists.  Dagan Shelton recorded seven points, seven rebounds, and four assists.
