Lafayette coach Allison Denton started the following lineup: 6-0 Jr. Sarah Cooley, 5-11 So. Dee Givens, 6-4 So. Ashanti Thomas, 5-6 Jr. Megumi Nagahiro, and 5-6 Jr. Ken’yale Demus. Madison Central coach Robert Cooksey countered with 6-2 Sr. Ashton Feldhaus, 5-8 Sr. Heather Hinkle, 6-2 Jr. Shadae Bosley, 5-5 Jr. Bailey O’Bryan, and 5-5 Sr. Larryn Brooks.

Madison Central defeated a cold shooting (23.2%) Lafayette by a score of 45-34.  Madison Central led 18-6 in the second quarter but Lafayette rallied due to their tenacious rebounding to trail by two; 32-30 after three quarters.  One of the keys of the game came when Madison Central’s Heather Hinkle was fouled on a three point attempt with the score 32-30 with 6:44 remaining in the game.  Hinkle calmly connected on all three shots to give Madison Central a 35-30 lead and Lafayette could never catch up.  Madison Central was 13 of 13 from the free throw line in the final quarter.

Madison Central shot 36.8% from the field including two of nine from the three point line.  The Indians connected on 15 of 17 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored four points off nine Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot 23.2% from the field including two of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Generals connected on six of eight free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored eight points off 10 Madison Central turnovers.  Lafayette attempted 18 more shots (56-38) from the field than Madison Central.  Lafayette held a 10-0 advantage in second effort points.

Larryn Brooks led Madison Central with 21 points including two three point baskets and nine of 10 free throws.  Ashton Feldhaus added 10 points and four rebounds.  Shadae Bosley chipped in with seven points, five rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Heather Hinkle pulled down six rebounds.

Ashanti Thomas led Lafayette with 12 points, 13 rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Kiara Pankins added eight points and Sarah Cooley recorded six points and 10 rebounds.  Dee Givens recorded five steals.
