Ashland coach Bill Bradley started the following lineup: 5-11 Jr. Shelby Gransbery, 5-10 Sr. Alex Young, 5-11 Jr. Haley Sue Foutch, 5-7 Sr. Josie Roberts, and 5-10 Jr. Alexis Robinson. Newport Central Catholic coach George Stoll countered with 5-8 Jr. Alexus Mayes, 5-5 Sr. Stephanie Lewis, 5-10 Sr. Nikki Kiernan, 5-2 So. Ansley Davenport, and 5-3 Jr. Michaela Ware.
Newport Central Catholic captured the championship with a 63-48 victory over Ashland. NCC shot 38.2% from the field including four of 17 from the three point line. The Thoroughbreds connected on 17 of 24 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 15 Ashland turnovers. Ashland shot 33.3% from the field including three of 17 from beyond the arc. The Kittens connected on 13 of 16 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored three points off 10 NCC turnovers.
Alexus Mayes led NCC with 21 points including nine of 11 free throws and 12 rebounds. Nikki Kiernan added 12 points, 13 rebounds, three blocked shots, and three steals. Ansley Davenport chipped in with nine points.
Alexis Robinson led Ashland with 21 points including two three point baskets. 5-4 Sr. Chelsea Woodson added seven points. Haley Sue Foutch recorded six points and nine rebounds.
