Mercer County coach Chris Souder started the following lineup: 5-7 8th grader Seygan Robins, 5-7 8th grader Faith Lake, 5-8 Jr. Kandace Gash, 5-5 So. Madaline Bartley, and 5-5 Jr. Heidi Huffman.  Lafayette coach Allison Denton countered with 6-0 Sr. Sarah Cooley, 5-11 Jr. Dee Givens, 6-4 Jr. Ashanti Thomas, 5-7 Sr. Megumi Nagahiro, and 5-8 Sr. Ken’yale Demus.

Lafayette utilized their size advantage to enjoy a 49-22 advantage in rebounds in a 61-52 victory over Mercer County.  Lafayette trailed 33-26 at halftime but outscored Mercer County 35-19 after the intermission.  Lafayette shot 41.1% from the field including one of five from the three point line.  The Lady Generals connected on 14 of 18 free throws, pulled down 49 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 19 Mercer County turnovers.  Mercer County shot 31.6% from the field including nine of 28 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Titans connected on seven of nine free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 27 Lafayette turnovers.

Ashanti Thomas led Lafayette with 15 points and 12 rebounds.  5-11 Fr. Kiara Pankins also scored 15 points on five of six field goals and five of seven free throws.  Sarah Cooley added 12 points and 11 rebounds and Dee Givens recorded 11 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, and four steals.  Ken’yale Demus chipped in with seven points, eight rebounds, and three steals.  Three Lady Generals recorded a double-double tonight.

5-7 Fr. Lyric Houston led Mercer County with 17 points and five rebounds.  Seygan Robins added 13 points including three three point baskets.  Heidi Huffman recorded nine points on three three point baskets.
