Lafayette coach Allison Denton started the following lineup: 6-0 Sr. Sarah Cooley, 5-11 Jr. Dee Givens, 6-4 Jr. Ashanti Thomas, 5-7 Sr. Megumi Nagahiro, and 5-8 Sr. Ken’yale Demus. Henry Clay coach Eric Sanford countered with 5-10 Sr. Areanna Porter, 5-9 Jr. Kerrigan Davis, 6-0 Jr. Hannah Young, 5-6 Jr. Nakyira Joyce, and 5-6 Jr. Jazmine Richmond.
Henry Clay took a 27-23 lead early in the third quarter but Lafayette went on a 17-0 run to take a 40-27 lead on their way to a 48-40 victory. Lafayette shot 38.5% from the field including two of nine from the three point line. The Lady Generals connected on 16 of 26 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 17 Henry Clay turnovers. Henry Clay shot 22.2% from the field including one of seven from beyond the arc. The Lady Blue Devils connected on 15 of 19 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 21 Lafayette turnovers.
Sarah Cooley led Lafayette with 16 points and seven rebounds. Ashanti Thomas added 10 points and 11 rebounds. Dee Givens recorded nine points and seven rebounds.
5-6 So. T’Laya Lyvers led Henry Clay with 15 points. Kerrigan Davis added nine points and four rebounds. 5-11 So. Nakeisha Green pulled down nine rebounds.
