Sacred Heart Academy coach Donna Moir started the following lineup: 5-9 Sr. DaiJia Ruffin, 5-6 Sr. Raven Merriweather, 5-11 Jr. Maggie Colley, 5-4 Jr. Ashley Johnson, and 5-4 Jr. Gretchen Samsel.  Notre Dame Academy Wayne Foust countered with 5-10 Jr. Haylee Smith, 5-9 Jr. Hillary Hellmann, 5-11 Sr. Carlee Clemons, 5-9 Jr. Sydney Stallman, and 5-11 Sr. Elly Ogle.

Notre Dame, buoyed by 60.9% shooting from the field led 30-26 at the half but Sacred Heart shot a sizzling 68.8% from the field in the second half to rally for a 58-47 victory.  Sacred Heart shot 56.4% from the field including five of 10 from the three point line.  The Valkyries connected on nine of 15 free throws, pulled down 18 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 23 Notre Dame turnovers.  Notre Dame shot 39.6% from the field including zero of five from beyond the arc.  The Pandas connected on nine of 13 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 17 Sacred Heart turnovers.  Notre Dame held a 10-0 advantage in second chance points.

DaiJia Ruffin led Sacred Heart with 20 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and five steals.  Raven Merriweather added 19 points including three three point baskets and six assists.  Gretchen Samsel recorded 12 points including two three point baskets.

Haylee Smith led Notre Dame with 13 points and six rebounds.  Hillary Hellmann added 10 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.  Elly Ogle recorded eight points and eight rebounds.  5-8 Sr. Paige Kellam and Carlee Clemons also chipped in with eight points each.

 

Sacred Heart  13  13  16  16 – 58

Notre Dame   17  13    9    8 – 47

 

Sacred Heart (58) – Ruffin 20, Merriweather 19, Ma. Colley 2, Johnson 5, Samsel 12.

 

Notre Dame (47) – Smith 13, Hellmann 10, Clemons 8, Stallman 0, Ogle 8, Kellam 8.
