West Jessamine vs. Southwestern (Boys)

West Jessamine coach Damon Kelley started the following lineup: 6-4 Jr. Brooks Ely, 6-3 Sr. Daulton Peters, 6-5 Jr. Dalton Crouse, 5-10 Sr. Lane Brooks, and 6-0 Sr. Will Henderson.  Southwestern coach Steve Wright countered with 6-3 8th grader Danny Butt, 6-2 8th grader Steven Fitzgerald, 6-4 Jr. Dylan Gaskin, 5-8 Jr. Adam Isaacs, and 5-11 Fr. Hunter Cromer.

Southwestern led 54-37 in the third quarter and withstood a late West Jessamine rally to earn an 80-71 victory.  Southwestern shot 50.8% from the field including eight of 18 from the three point line.  The Warriors connected on 10 of 16 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored seven points off six West Jessamine turnovers.  West Jessamine shot 43.5% from the field including seven of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Colts connected on 10 of 12 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored four points off eight Southwestern turnovers.

Hunter Cromer led a balanced Southwestern scoring attack with 16 points.  Danny Butt added 15 points including three three point baskets.  6-5 Sr. Justin Edwards recorded 14 points.  Dylan Gaskin chipped in with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists.  Adam Isaacs recorded 12 points and seven assists.  Steven Fitzgerald added nine points, seven rebounds, and three assists.

Daulton Peters led West Jessamine with 27 points and 11 rebounds.  Will Henderson added 12 points and eight assists.  Brooks Ely chipped in with 10 points.

 

West Jessamine  20  12  12  27 – 71

Southwestern      27  16  13  24 – 80

 

West Jessamine (71) – Ely 10, Peters 27, Crouse 2, Brooks 7, Henderson 12, Holifield 6, Adkins 7.

 

Southwestern (80) – Butt 15, Fitzgerald 9, Gaskin 12, Isaacs 12, Cromer 16, Edwards 14, Miller 2.
