Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman started the following lineup: 6-5 Jr. Tanner Johnson, 6-3 Jr. Reese Ryan, 6-7 Sr. Robert Dence, 5-10 So. Donovan Morris, and 6-2 Jr. Jarod Griffin. (Note: 5-10 Jr. Michael Talbott missed tonight’s game due to an injury.) Paul Laurence Dunbar coach Scott Chalk countered with 6-3 So. Darius Williams, 6-0 Sr. Troy Black, 6-2 Sr. Jordan Hurst, 6-0 Fr. Traveion Hollingsworth, and 6-0 Sr. Donnie Lewis.
Dunbar led 49-39 in the final quarter and withstood a Lexington Catholic rally to earn a 55-51 victory. Dunbar shot 42.9% from the field including two of eight from the three point line. The Bulldogs connected on 17 of 26 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 14 Lexington Catholic turnovers. Lexington Catholic shot 46.2% from the field including one of 10 from beyond the arc. The Knights connected on 14 of 24 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored nine points off 14 Dunbar turnovers.
Darius Williams led Dunbar with 31 points including two three point baskets. Donnie Lewis added seven points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
Robert Dence led Lexington Catholic with 15 points, eight rebounds, and three blocked shots. Tanner Johnson added 14 points. Reese Ryan recorded 10 points, three rebounds, and five assists.
