Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman started the following lineup: 6-5 Jr. Tanner Johnson, 6-3 Jr. Reese Ryan, 6-7 Sr. Robert Dence, 5-10 Jr. Michael Talbott, and 6-2 Jr. Jarod Griffin. Wayne County coach Rodney Woods countered with 6-3 Jr. Peyton Woods, 6-1 So. Corey Stearns, 6-5 So. Nick Gillispie, 5-9 So. Trey Blevins, and 5-10 Sr. Jason Perkins.
Wayne County raced out to a 34-16 halftime lead on their way to a 63-56 victory over Lexington Catholic. Lexington Catholic only shot 25% from the field in the first half but was 55.2% from the field after the intermission. Wayne County shot 38.2% from the field including seven of 21 from the three point line. The Cardinals connected on 14 of 19 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored seven points off nine Lexington Catholic turnovers. Lexington Catholic shot 41.5% from the field including three of 15 from beyond the arc. The Knights connected on nine of 12 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored seven points off six Wayne County turnovers.
Peyton Woods led Wayne County with 26 points including six three point baskets and seven rebounds. Corey Stearns added 17 points, 14 rebounds, and three assists. Trey Blevins chipped in with nine points and nine assists. Nick Gillispie recorded six rebounds and four blocked shots.
Tanner Johnson led Lexington Catholic with 20 points including three three point baskets and five rebounds. Robert Dence added 15 points and 11 rebounds. Reese Ryan chipped in with 10 points and four assists.
