Lexington Christian Academy coach Nick Cann started the following lineup: 5-10 So. Abigail James, 5-8 Jr. Hayley Strunk, 5-11 Sr. Holly Huellemeier, 5-3 So. Hannah Hartley, and 5-7 Sr. Katelin Bundy. Lafayette coach Allison Denton countered with 6-0 Sr. Sarah Cooley, 5-11 Jr. Dee Givens, 6-4 Jr. Ashanti Thomas, 5-8 Sr. Ken’yale Demus, and 5-11 Fr. Kiara Pankins.
Lafayette utilized their superiority on the boards to hold a 25-3 advantage in second effort points in a 66-40 victory over Lexington Christian Academy. Lafayette shot 43.55 from the field including two of 12 from the three point line. The Lady Generals connected on 10 of 15 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 17 LCA turnovers. LCA shot 48.6% from the field including three of nine from beyond the arc. The Lady Eagles connected on three of four free throws, pulled down 15 rebounds, and scored five points off eight Lafayette turnovers. LCA attempted 27 less shots (62-35) from the field than Lafayette.
Ashanti Thomas led Lafayette with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Dee Givens added 13 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Sarah Cooley chipped in with 12 points and five rebounds and Kiara Pankins recorded eight points and seven rebounds.
Holly Huellemeier led LCA with 19 points. Katelin Bundy added eight points, four assists, and three steals. Hayley Strunk chipped in with six points, eight rebounds, and three assists.
