Sacred Heart Academy coach Donna Moir started the following lineup: 5-9 Sr. DaiJia Ruffin, 5-6 Sr. Raven Merriweather, 5-10 So. Lydia Taylor, 5-5 Jr. Gretchen Samsel, and 5-7 So. Meghan Colley. Ballard coach Frank Wright countered with 5-9 Sr. Kiana Richardson, 5-7 Sr. Aundrea Matchen, 5-10 Sr. Javonna Layfield, 5-3 8th grader Briana Mishler, and 5-6 Jr. Alex Martin.
Sacred Heart Academy trailed 32-31 after three quarters but rallied to defeat Ballard by a score of 46-39. There were 11 lead changes and five ties in this game. Sacred Heart shot 48.5% from the field including one of 11 from the three point line. The Valkyries connected on 13 of 21 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 15 Ballard turnovers. Ballard shot 34.1% from the field including two of 12 from beyond the arc. The Lady Bruins connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Sacred Heart turnovers.
DaiJia Ruffin led Sacred Heart with 24 points and eight rebounds. Raven Merriweather added 12 points.
Javonna Layfield led Ballard with 19 points, 13 rebounds, and three blocked shots. Aundrea Matchen added eight points and four rebounds.
