Lexington Christian Academy trailed 21-3 at halftime but rallied in the second half led by their senior workhorse running back Nick Whitman to defeat Somerset 22-21. Nick Whitman scored on a 31 yard touchdown run with 2:05 left in the game for the winning score. Lexington Christian Academy recorded 13 first downs and 361 yards of total offense. The Eagles were penalized seven times for 55 yards. Somerset recorded 13 first downs and 323 yards of total offense. The Briar Jumpers were penalized six times for 50 yards and had a pass intercepted.
Nick Whitman led LCA’s ground attack with 240 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries. Dima Ballard carried the ball 12 times for 43 yards. Dima Ballard completed six of 13 passes for 60 yards. Nick Whitman caught four passes for 54 yards. Logan Potter led the defense with six solo and one assisted tackles. Nick Whitman added four solo and three assisted tackles. Clay Ach recorded three solo and four assisted tackles.
Brycen McWilliams led Somerset’s ground game with 94 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Castle Hatcher completed 15 of 34 passes for 188 yards with one interception. Isaiah Cornett caught five passes for 108 yards. Josh Cornett added six receptions for 55 yards. Brycen McWilliams led the defense with seven solo and nine assisted tackles. Patrick Oursler added six solo and three assisted tackles.
