Eastern Kentucky coach Jeff Neubauer started the following lineup: 6-7 Sr. Timmy Knipp, 6-5 Jr. Denzel Richardson, 6-8 Sr. Eric Stutz, 6-2 Sr. Corey Walden, and 6-2 So. Isaac McGlone. Tennessee Tech coach Steve Payne countered with 6-8 Sr. Dwan Caldwell, 6-5 Sr. Javon McKay, 6-10 Jr. Charles Jackson, 6-1 Jr. Torrance Rowe, and 6-3 So. Shirmane Thomas.
Eastern Kentucky led 41-30 at halftime but Tennessee Tech rallied in the second half to earn an 83-81 overtime victory. 6-5 Jr. Josiah Moore hit a basket with seven seconds remaining on the clock to give Tennessee tech an 83-81 lead. Eastern Kentucky had a long three point attempt at the buzzer for the victory but it did not connect. There were three ties and six lead changes in this game. Tennessee Tech shot 54.4% from the field including 10 of 20 from the three point line. The Golden Eagles connected on 11 of 21 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 11 Eastern Kentucky turnovers. Eastern Kentucky shot 50.9% from the field including 12 of 29 from beyond the arc. The Colonels connected on 15 of 25 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 15 Tennessee Tech turnovers.
Charles Jackson led Tennessee Tech with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Torrance Rowe added 14 points, five rebounds, and 10 assists. 6-3 Fr. Aleksa Jugovic also scored 14 points including four three point baskets. Javon McKay chipped in with 12 points. Dwan Caldwell recorded 11 points and eight rebounds.
Corey Walden led Eastern Kentucky with 22 points, three rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Eric Stutz added 20 points, nine rebounds, and four assists. Timmy Knipp recorded 14 points including four three point baskets and seven rebounds.
