Belmont University coach Rick Byrd started the following lineup: 6-7 So. Evan Bradds, 6-3 Jr. Craig Bradshaw, 6-8 Fr. Amanze Egekeze, 6-1 Sr. Reece Chamberlain, and 6-3 So. Taylor Barnette. Eastern Kentucky coach Jeff Neubauer countered with 6-7 Sr. Timmy Knipp, 6-7 Jr. Ja’Mill Powell, 6-8 Sr. Eric Stutz, 6-2 Sr. Corey Walden, and 6-2 So. Isaac McGlone.
Eastern Kentucky defeated OVC East Division leader Belmont University by a score of 81-69. It was a game of runs tonight with each team going on runs in each half but Eastern Kentucky took command of the game with a 15-4 run in the second half. Eastern Kentucky shot 57.1% from the field including 12 of 23 from the three point line. The Colonels connected on 13 of 18 free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored 32 points off 18 Belmont turnovers. Belmont shot 53.2% from the field including 10 of 26 from beyond the arc. The Bruins connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 10 points off nine eastern Kentucky turnovers.
Eric Stutz led Eastern with a career high 27 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Stutz was 10 of 11 from the field including two of two from beyond the arc and five of six free throws. Corey Walden added 15 points, five rebounds, eight assists, and three steals. Timmy Knipp chipped in with 12 points on four three point baskets. Isaac McGlone also reached double digits with 10 points.
Reece Chamberlain led Belmont with 14 points including three three point baskets and five rebounds. Taylor Barnette also scored 14 points including three three point baskets. Evan Bradds recorded 11 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists.
