Wayne County coach Rodney Woods started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. Peyton Woods, 6-4 Fr. Jakson Baker, 6-6 Jr. Nick Gillespie, 6-0 Jr. Trey Blevins, and 6-2 Jr. Corey Stearns. West Jessamine coach Damon Kelley countered with 6-4 Sr. Brooks Ely, 6-3 Jr. Siah Holifield, 6-4 Sr. Dalton Crouse, 6-0 Jr. Camron Seater, and 6-0 Sr. David McCorvey.
The score was tied 47-47 after three quarters but Wayne County pulled away in the final quarter to earn a 68-63 victory over West Jessamine. The score was tied seven times and there were three lead changes. Wayne County shot 46.3% from the field including six of 16 from the three point line. The Cardinals connected on 12 of 16 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 11 West Jessamine turnovers. West Jessamine shot 40% from the field including three of 13 from beyond the arc. The Colts connected on 16 of 16 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 10 points off seven Wayne County turnovers.
Corey Stearns led Wayne County with 20 points and eight rebounds. Peyton Woods added 16 points including two three point baskets and five rebounds. Trey Blevins recorded 14 points including three three point baskets. Jakson Baker chipped in with 13 points and seven rebounds.
Siah Holifield led West Jessamine with 20 points including eight of eight free throws and six rebounds. Brooks Ely also scored 20 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Dalton Crouse recorded eight points and 12 rebounds. David McCorvey also scored eight points including six of six free throws.
