Eastern Kentucky University coach Jeff Neubauer started the following lineup: 6-7 Sr. Timmy Knipp, 6-7 Jr. Ja’Mill Powell, 6-8 Sr. Eric Stutz, 6-2 Sr. Corey Walden, and 6-2 So. Isaac McGlone. Tennessee State University coach Dana Ford countered with 6-5 Jr. Marcus Roper, 6-4 Fr. Darreon Reddick, 6-6 Jr. Demontez Loman, 5-10 Sr. Jay Harris, and 6-2 Jr. Xavier Richards.
Eastern Kentucky University defeated Tennessee State University by a score of 69-41. EKU shot 51.1% from the field including nine of 24 from the three point line. The Colonels connected on 12 of 13 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 19 TSU turnovers. TSU shot 31.7% from the field including one of 11 from beyond the arc. The Tigers connected on 14 of 21 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 12 EKU turnovers.
Eric Stutz led EKU with 15 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Corey Walden added 13 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Timmy Knipp recorded 12 points on four three point baskets. Ja’Mill Powell and 6-4 So. Jaylen Babb-Harrison each scored eight points including two three point baskets.
6-9 Fr. Christian Mekowulu led TSU with 16 points. Jay Harris added 10 points and five rebounds.
