Campbell County coach Aric Russell started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Deondre Jackson, 6-1 Sr. Jake Franzen, 6-8 Jr. Matt Wilson, 5-11 Jr. Trent McGovney, and 6-0 Sr. Blake Losey.  Covington Catholic coach Scott Ruthsatz countered with 6-4 Jr. Andy Flood, 6-2 Sr. Grant Romes, 6-6 Sr. Bo Schuh, and 6-1 So. Cole VonHandorf, and 6-1 Sr. Cooper Theobald.

Covington Catholic opened their defense of last year’s championship with a 64-43 victory over Campbell County.  Campbell County led 18-14 after the first quarter but Covington Catholic outscored the Camels 50-25 the rest of the game. Covington Catholic shot 51.2% from the field including three of seven from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 19 of 29 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 14 Campbell County turnovers.  Campbell County shot 38.1% from the field including two of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Camels connected on nine of 12 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored four points off six Covington Catholic turnovers.

Cole VonHandorf led Covington Catholic with 29 points.  VonHandorf was 10 of 16 from the field including two of three from beyond the arc, and seven of nine free throws.  Cooper Theobald added 12 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Andy Flood chipped in with 10 points.

Matt Wilson led Campbell County with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Wilson was six of six from the field and two of two free throws.  Deondre Jackson added 11 points.
