Covington Catholic coach Scott Ruthsatz started the following lineup: 6-4 Jr. Andy Flood, 6-2 Sr. Grant Romes, 6-6 Sr. Bo Schuh, 6-1 So. Cole VonHandorf, and 6-1 Sr. Cooper Theobald.  Owensboro coach Rod Drake countered with 6-9 Sr. Aric Holman, 6-1 Sr. Dylan Sanford, 6-7 Sr. Justin Miller, 5-9 Sr. Darion Morrow, and 5-10 So. Jacoby Harris.

Owensboro defeated Covington Catholic 69-65 in overtime.  Owensboro led 55-52 in the closing seconds of regulation but Covington Catholic’s 6-1 Sr. Matthew Shumate hit a three point basket to knot the score at 55-55 and force overtime.  This was a game of runs as Owensboro led 15-11 after the first quarter but Covington Catholic outscored the Red Devils 19-9 in the second quarter to take a 30-24 halftime lead.  The Colonels maintained their advantage and led 42-36 after three quarters.  Owensboro rallied late to take the lead before Shumate’s heroics forced overtime. 

Owensboro shot 56.8% from the field including six of 12 from the three point line.  The Red Devils connected on 13 of 21 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and committed 16 turnovers.  Covington Catholic shot 44.9% from the field including six of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on 15 of 19 free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and committed 11 turnovers.

Justin Miller led Owensboro with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists.  Darion Morrow added 18 points including three three point baskets.  Jacoby Harris chipped in with 14 points.  Aric Holman recorded 11 points, nine rebounds, and two blocked shots.

Cole VonHandorf led Covington Catholic with 21 points including three three point baskets.  Bo Schuh added 15 points and five rebounds.  Cooper Theobald recorded 14 points.
