Lexington Catholic vs. Boyle County

Lexington Catholic executed a perfect hook-and-ladder play in the final minute to lead the Knights to a 31-24 victory to stun the previously unbeaten Boyle County Rebels. Boyle County held a 24-17 lead but Lexington Catholic tied the score at 24-24 with 4:43 left on the clock on a 27 yard touchdown pass from Kirk Fagot to Donovan Morris and a conversion kick by Morris. Lexington Catholic got the ball back and Kirk Fagot completed a pass to Donovan Morris who went eight yards and then lateraled to JJ Ogbogu who had been a thorn in Boyle County’s side all night and he raced the final 47 yards to the end zone. Connor Frye kicked the extra point and LexCath made on last defensive stop to ensure the victory.
Lexington Catholic recorded 17 first downs and 441 yards of total offense. The Knights were penalized six times for 63 yards and had a pass intercepted. Boyle County recorded 25 first downs and 342 yards of total offense. The Rebels were penalized nine times for 80 yards and had two passes intercepted.
Andy Thompson led Lexington Catholic’s ground attack with 69 yards and a touchdown on eight carries. Jaylen Jones carried the ball 15 times for 48 yards. Kirk Fagot completed 13 of 18 passes for 200 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. Andy Thompson completed four of six passes for 97 yards and a touchdown. JJ Ogbogu caught eight passes for 229 yards and three touchdowns. Andy Thompson added five receptions for 28 yards. Donovan Morris caught three passes for 38 yards and a touchdown. Zack Newcomb led the defense with eight solo and one assisted tackles and intercepted two passes he returned for a total of 85 yards. Andy Hickey added seven solo and one assisted tackles. Jack Fagot chipped in with six solo and one assisted tackles and Eli Mitchell recorded five solo and two assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 18 yards.
Cory Swanner led Boyle County’s ground attack with 174 yards on 29 carries. Josiah Robbins completed 18 of 43 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions. Nick Roney caught seven passes for 77 yards and a touchdown. Evan Tarter added four receptions for 59 yards. Eric Brown caught three passes for 23 yards. Mack Cox caught two passes for 34 yards and a touchdown. Josh Robbins also kicked field goals of 25, 29, and 25 yards. Mack Cox led the defense with six solo and one assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a four yard loss. Austin Bodner also recorded six solo and one assisted tackles. Eric Brown recorded five solo and one assisted tackles and intercepted a pass.
