Central vs. Eastern (Girls)

Central coach Ashley Franklin started the following lineup: 5-8 So. India New, 5-5 Sr. Taryn Glass, 5-9 Jr. Stephonie Cole, 5-2 Jr. Peyton Evans, and 5-5 Sr. Thelisia Beasley Guin.  Eastern coach Josh Leslie countered with 5-10 Jr. Natalie Collins, 5-9 Sr. Markeia Porter, 5-11 Fr. Mikayla Kinnard, 5-7 So. Alexis Smith, and 5-8 Sr. Shavia Thompson.

 

Eastern defeated Central by a score of 64-53.  Eastern shot 30% from the field including three of 18 from the three point line.  The Lady Eagles connected on 19 of 27 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 40 points off 37 Central turnovers.  Eastern attempted 41 more shots (70-29) from the field than Central.  Central shot 55.2% from the field including two of eight from beyond the arc.  The Lady Jackets connected on 19 of 28 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 17 Eastern turnovers.

 

Markeia Porter led Eastern with 24 points four rebounds, and eight steals.  Alexis Smith added eight points and five rebounds. 

 

Stephonie Cole led Central with 14 points and 13 rebounds.  Peyton Evans added eight points and nine rebounds.  Thelisia Beasley Guin also scored eight points.

Central (53) – New 7, Glass 2, Cole 14, Evans 8, Beasley Guin 8, Stikes 7, Hereford 5, Neal 2.

 

Eastern (64) – Collins 5, Porter 24, Kinnard 3, Smith 8, Thompson 5, Anthony 6, Beach 7, Pearl 6.
