Western Kentucky University coach Michael Clark-Heard countered with 6-1 So. Tashia Brown, 6-1 So. Ivy Brown, 6-0 Sr. Jalynn McClain, 5-11 Jr. Kendall Noble, and 5-11 Fr. Kayla Smith.
Western Kentucky went on a 14-2 run in the first quarter to take control of the game in a 76-60 victory over Eastern Kentucky. Western Kentucky shot 48.2% from the field including six of 14 from the three point line. The Hilltoppers connected on 16 of 26 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored seven points off 14 Eastern Kentucky turnovers. Eastern Kentucky shot 34.4% from the field including seven of 19 from beyond the arc. The Colonels connected on nine of 15 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 11 points off Western Kentucky turnovers.
Tashia Brown led Western Kentucky with 23 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Kendall Noble added 14 points and six rebounds. Ivy Brown recorded 12 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists. Kayla Smith chipped in with eight points.
5-11 Fr. Abby Wright led Eastern Kentucky with 14 points. 5-5 Jr. Mariah Massengill added 10 points and four steals. Shameekia Murray recorded 10 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Alexus Cooper also scored 10 points. Jalen O’Bannon recorded eight points and eight rebounds. Michaela Hunter added seven points, seven rebounds, and two steals.
