UT Martin coach Kevin McMillan started the following lineup: 5-11 Sr. Chelsea Roberts, 5-11 Sr. Katie Schubert, 6-0 Sr. Haley Howard, 5-8 Jr. Jessy Ward, and 5-9 Fr. DaiJia Ruffin. Eastern Kentucky University coach Chrissy Roberts countered with 6-1 Jr. Jalen O’Bannon, 5-10 Sr. Shameekia Murray, 6-1 Sr. Miranda Maples, 5-8 Jr. Alexus Cooper, and 5-10 Jr. Michaela Hunter.
UT Martin led 47-45 after three quarters but Eastern Kentucky rallied for a 70-61 victory. The score was tied nine times and there were six lead changes in the game. Eastern Kentucky shot 43.3% from the field including five of 12 from the three point line. The Colonels connected on 13 of 18 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 16 UT Martin turnovers. UT Martin shot 30.6% from the field including eight of 29 from beyond the arc. The Skyhawks connected on 15 of 20 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 16 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.
Shameekia Murray led Eastern Kentucky with 19 points and six rebounds. Jalen O’Bannon added 15 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocked shots. Miranda Maples chipped in with 15 points and six rebounds. Alexus Cooper added nine points. Michaela Hunter recorded four points, 13 rebounds, eight assists, and three steals.
DaiJia Ruffin led UT Martin with 17 points including nine of 12 free throws and five assists. Jessy Ward added 13 points including three three point baskets. Haley Howard recorded eight points, three rebounds, and four assists. Chelsea Roberts chipped in with seven points and seven rebounds. Katie Schubert added five points, seven rebounds, and six steals.
