Murray State coach Rob Cross started the following lineup: 6-1 So. Ke’Shunan James, 5-9 Sr. Jashae Lee, 6-2 Sr. Kyra Gulledge, 5-3 Sr. Ajee Smith, and 5-8 So. Jasmine Borders. Eastern Kentucky University coach Chrissy Roberts countered with 6-1 Jr. Jalen O’Bannon, 5-10 Sr. Shameekia Murray, 6-1 Sr. Miranda Maples, 5-8 Jr. Alexus Cooper, and 5-10 Jr. Michaela Hunter.
Eastern Kentucky University pulled away in the final quarter to defeat Murray State by a score of 72-60. The score was tied four times and there were 15 lead changes in the game. Eastern Kentucky shot 44.4% from the field including three of 10 from the three point line. The Colonels connected on 13 of 18 free throws, pulled down 52 rebounds, and scored 13 points off nine Murray State turnovers. Jalen O’Bannon led Eastern Kentucky with 25 points and 12 rebounds. O’Bannon was nine of 13 from the field and seven of 10 free throws. Shameekia Murray added 15 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Michaela Hunter recorded 14 points and six rebounds. 5-11 Fr. Abby Wright chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds.
5-8 Jr. LeAsia Wright led Murray State with 17 points and seven rebounds. Ke’Shunan James added 16 points and six rebounds.
