Clay County coach Robert Marcum started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. Trey Farmer, 6-3 Sr. Wes Wolfe, 6-6 Jr. Logan Gabbard, 6-2 Sr. Blake Smith, and 6-3 Jr. Will Sexton. Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-5 So. Zan Payne, 6-3 So. TC Price, 6-6 Jr. Peter Whitman, 5-11 Sr. Donovan Morris, and 6-4 Jr. Luke Johnson.
Lexington Catholic trailed 61-59 after three quarters but rallied to defeat Clay County by a score of 85-73. The score was tied 12 times and there were seven lead changes in the game. Lexington Catholic held a 24-12 advantage in three point points to offset the 19-9 advantage Clay County enjoyed in second effort points. Lexington Catholic shot 54.5% from the field including eight of 15 from the three point line. The Knights connected on 17 of 22 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 11 Clay County turnovers. Clay County shot 47.2% from the field including four of 12 from beyond the arc. The Tigers connected on 19 of 28 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 10 points off seven Lexington Catholic turnovers.
Luke Johnson led Lexington Catholic with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Donovan Morris added 16 points including two three point baskets and five assists. Peter Whitman chipped in with 12 points and five rebounds. Zan Payne recorded 10 points and 10 rebounds. TC Price added 10 points and four assists. 6-3 Jr. Blake Scott recorded nine points on three three point baskets.
Blake Smith led Clay County with 29 points, 10 rebounds, one blocked shot, and two steals. Trey Farmer added 20 points including two three point baskets, six rebounds, and four assists. Wes Wolfe chipped in with 11 points. Will Sexton recorded seven points, six rebounds, and three steals.
