Anderson County vs. Lafayette (Girls)

Anderson County coach Clay Birdwhistell started the following lineup: 5-9 Sr. Katelyn Harrod, 5-8 Sr. Kaci Currens, 6-0 Jr. Sammy Rogers, 5-3 Jr. Alorra Sims, and 5-6 Sr. Mia Aldridge.  Lafayette coach Allison Denton countered with 5-11 Jr. Kiara Pankins, 5-10 Fr. Lindi DeBilzan, 5-9 Sr. Aisha Conwell, 5-6 So. Terri Abram, and 5-9 So. Caroline Bennett.

 

Lafayette trailed 31-26 at halftime but outscored Anderson County 18-6 in the third quarter on their way to a 59-48 victory.  There were five lead changes and two ties in this game.  Lafayette shot 36.2% from the field including seven of 18 from the three point line.  The Lady Generals connected on 18 of 27 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 14 Anderson County turnovers.  Anderson County shot 28.3% from the field including seven of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Bearcats connected on 11 of 14 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 13 Lafayette turnovers.

 

Kiara Pankins led Lafayette with 25 points including 10 of 17 free throws, 10 rebounds, three assists, and 12 blocked shots.  Caroline Bennett added 18 points on six three point baskets.  Aisha Conwell recorded eight points and five rebounds and Terri Abram dished out seven assists.

 

5-7 So. Taylor Harley led Anderson County with 15 points including four three point baskets and three steals.  Kaci Currens added 11 points including three three point baskets and four rebounds.  Sammy Rogers recorded eight points, four rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Alorra Sims pulled down six rebounds.
