West Virginia raced out to a 50-22 halftime lead on their way to an 84-59 victory over Eastern Kentucky University. Western Kentucky shot 49.2% from the field including 10 of 24 from the three point line. The Mountaineers connected on 16 of 25 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 27 points off 18 Eastern Kentucky turnovers. The Mountaineers held a 26-7 advantage in second chance points. The Colonels connected on 10 of 23 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 10 West Virginia turnovers.
6-2 Sr. Jaysean Paige led West Virginia with 17 points including four three point baskets and five rebounds. Devin Williams added 15 points and eight rebounds. Daxter Miles Jr. recorded 12 points, three rebounds, and three assists. Jevon Carter chipped in with 11 points including three three point baskets.
Javontae Hawkins led Eastern Kentucky with 16 points including three three point baskets and four rebounds. 6-4 Jr. Jaylen Babb-Harrison added 15 points including three three point baskets. Nick Mayo recorded nine points and six rebounds. Greg King chipped in with seven points and six rebounds.
