Manhattan coach Steve Masiello started the following lineup: 6-8 So. Samson Akilo, 6-5 Sr. Shane Richards, 6-9 So. Zane Waterman, 5-10 Sr. RaShawn Stores, and 5-11 Fr. Thomas Capuano. Eastern Kentucky University coach Dan McHale countered with 6-7 Sr. Jarelle Reischel, 6-5 Jr. Javontae Hawkins, 6-9 So. Nick Mayo, 6-1 So. Paul Jackson, and 6-2 Jr. Isaac McGlone.
Eastern Kentucky raced out to a 45-21 halftime lead on their way to a 76-64 victory over Manhattan. EKU shot a sizzling 59.4% from the field including seven of 15 from beyond the arc in the first half. Eastern Kentucky shot 45.9% from the field including seven of 23 from the three point line. The Colonels connected on 13 of 15 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 16 Manhattan turnovers. Manhattan shot 41,2% from the field including 10 of 24 from beyond the arc. They connected on 13 of 15 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 11 points off nine Eastern Kentucky turnovers.
Jarelle Reischel led Eastern Kentucky with 26 points including 10 of 10from the free throw line, eight rebounds, seven assists, and four steals. Javontae Hawkins added 15 points and four rebounds. 6-4 Jr. Jaylen Babb-Harrison recorded nine points on three three point baskets and four rebounds. Nick Mayo chipped in with eight points and four rebounds. 6-7 Fr. Anthony Pratt Jr. also scored eight points.
Zane Waterman led Manhattan with 23 points including three three point baskets, seven rebounds, and two blocked shots. Shane Richards added 13 points including two three point baskets and six rebounds. RaShawn Stores recorded 11 points including three three point baskets. 6-5 Jr. Rich Williams chipped in with nine points, nine rebounds, and three assists.
