Eastern Kentucky University coach Chrissy Roberts started the following lineup: 5-11 Sr. Shavontae Naylor, 5-11 So. Abby Wright, 6-1 Sr. Jalen O’Bannon, 5-5 Sr. Mariah Massengill, and 5-8 Sr. Alexus Cooper. Kent State coach Todd Starkey countered with 6-0 Jr. McKenna Stephens, 5-9 Sr. Larissa Lurken, 6-2 Jr. Jordan Korinek, 5-6 Jr. Naddiyah Cross, and 5-9 So. Alexa Golden.
Kent State defeated Eastern Kentucky University by a score of 80-67. Kent State led 47-26 at halftime but Eastern Kentucky rallied to pull within single digits but was never able to overcome the huge early deficit. Kent State dominated the boards holding a 42-21 advantage and a 21-7 advantage in free throw points.
Kent State shot 50% from the field including five of 12 from the three point line. They connected on 21 of 30 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and committed 17 turnovers. Eastern Kentucky shot 45.8% from the field including six of 16 from beyond the arc. The Colonels connected on seven of nine free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and committed 14 turnovers.
Larissa Lurken led Kent State with 27 points including three three point baskets, 12 of 12 free throws, and pulled down 10 rebounds. Jordan Korinek added 20 points and nine rebounds. 5-10 Sr. Chelsi Watson recorded 11 points and eight rebounds.
Shavontae Naylor led Eastern Kentucky with 21 points, six rebounds, two blocked shots, and four steals. Mariah Massengill led 15 points including three three point baskets. Alexus Cooper also scored 15 points including two three point baskets. Jalen O’Bannon recorded 10 points, three rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots, and two steals.
