Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman started the following lineup: 6-5 Jr. Zan Payne, 6-3 Jr. TC Price, 6-7 Sr. Peter Whitman, 6-2 Sr. Blake Scott, and 6-3 Sr. Luke Johnson. Lafayette coach Mike Mendenhall III countered with 5-10 Sr. Jajuante Carpenter, 5-10 So. Evan Dreux, 6-1 Jr. Cameron King, 5-9 Sr. Chris Wharton, and 5-10 Jr. Eric Powell.
Lexington Catholic eked out a 57-54 victory over Lafayette. There were seven lead changes and five ties in this game. Lafayette led 38-28 in the third quarter but Lexington Catholic rallied for the victory. Lexington Catholic shot 52.3% from the field including two of 12 from the three point line. The Knights connected on nine of 15 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 12 Lafayette turnovers. Lafayette shot 38.6% from the field including eight of 20 from beyond the arc. The Generals connected on 12 of 16 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 15 Lexington catholic turnovers.
Peter Whitman led Lexington Catholic with 19 points, 12 rebounds, and five blocked shots. Whitman was nine of nine from the field and one of four from the free throw line. Zan Payne added 16 points and eight rebounds. Luke Johnson, plagued by foul problems tonight eight points, three rebounds, and three assists.
Jajuante Carpenter led Lafayette with 14 points, seven rebounds, and three steals. Eric Powell, Cameron King, and Evan Dreux each scored eight points.
