Tates Creek coach Jan Perkins started the following lineup: 5-4 Sr. Safiyah Abdus-Salam, 5-5 Jr. Tamira Watts, 5-8 Fr. Yasmeen Shalash, 5-3 Sr. LaTaya Winn, and 5-3 Sr. Nave Winn.  Lexington Catholic coach Scott True countered with 5-7 So. Maylo Given, 5-7 So. Jay Ballard, 5-9 Jr. Maya Jazdzewski, 5-2 Jr. Olivia Haines, and 5-5 So. Catey Nash.

 

Lexington Catholic defeated Tates Creek 53-50 in overtime tonight.  There were six lead changes and six ties in this game, Lexington Catholic shot 31.4% from the field including seven of 20 from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on 14 of 18 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored nine points off 20 Tates Creek turnovers.  Tates Creek shot 35.4% from the field including six of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Commodores connected on 10 of 15 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 17 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

 

Jay Ballard led Lexington Catholic with 22 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, and three steals.  Maylo Given added 19 points including three three point baskets and nine rebounds.  Olivia Haines chipped in with 10 points.  Maya Jazdewski pulled down 13 rebounds and recorded two steals.

 

Safiyah Abdus-Salam led Tates Creek with 12 points, eight rebounds, and three steals.  Tamira Watts also scored 12 points, pulled down four rebounds, and recorded three steals.  LaTaya Winn chipped in with 11 points and Nave Winn added seven points.  Yasmeen Shalash pulled down seven rebounds.
