Henry Clay coach Eric Sanford started the following lineup: 5-8 Jr. Braxton Price, 5-8 So. Destyne Jackson, 5-11 Jr. Tyronica Carpenter, 5-7 So. Kiya Thompson, and 5-8 Jr. Cheyenne Jones.  Sayre coach Charles Thomas countered with 6-0 Jr. Lainey Tew, 5-4 Sr. Ellie Alford, 6-1 So. Kaya Davis, 5-5 Sr. Emma Bilberry, and 5-5 Jr. Dee Dee Wheeler.

 

Sayre led 18-8 in the second quarter but Henry Clay rallied to eke out a 39-36 victory over Sayre.  The score was tied four times and there were four lead changes in the game.  Henry Clay shot 26.9% from the field including five of 14 from the three point line.  The Lady Blue Devils connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 20 Sayre turnovers.  Sayre shot 38.5% from the field including one of eight from beyond the arc.  The Lady Spartans connected on five of 14 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 12 Henry Clay turnovers.

 

Destyne Jackson led Henry Clay with nine points, five rebounds, two assists, and three steals.  Braxton Price added eight points including two three point baskets, four assists, and two blocked shots.  Kiya Thompson also scored eight points.  Tyronica Carpenter pulled down 12 rebounds and blocked two shots.

 

Kaya Davis led Sayre with 21 points, 15 rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Ellie Alford added six points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Dee Dee Wheeler recorded five points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
