Morehead State University interim coach Preston Spradlin started the following lineup: 6-5 Sr. Treshaad Williams, 6-5 Sr. Ronnye Beamon, 6-6 Sr. DeJuan Marrero, 6-2 Sr. Xavier Moon, and 6-3 Jr. Miguel Dicent. Eastern Kentucky University coach Dan McHale countered with 6-6 Fr. Marlon Adams, 6-2 Sr. Isaac McGlone, 6-9 So. Nick Mayo, 5-11 Fr. Asante Gist, and 6-0 Jr. Dillon Avare.
Morehead State captured a 67-62 hard fought victory over Eastern Kentucky. There were four ties and seven lead changes in the game. Morehead State shot 40-7% from the field including seven of 18 from the three point line. The Eagles connected on 12 of 18 free throws, pulled down 46 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 11 Eastern Kentucky turnovers. Eastern Kentucky shot 43.1% from the field including six of 26 from beyond the arc. The Colonels connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 14 Morehead State turnovers.
Xavier Moon led Morehead State with 16 points including two three point baskets, nine rebounds, and five assists. DeJuan Marrero added 14 points including six of six free throws, six rebounds, and three steals. Miguel Dicent recorded 10 points, four rebounds, and six assists. 6-1 Fr. Jordan Walker chipped in with nine points on three three point baskets. Treshaad Williams added six points and seven rebounds.
Asante Gist led Eastern Kentucky with 20 points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Nick Mayo added 17 points, six rebounds, two blocked shots, and two steals. Dillon Avare recorded 11 points including three three point baskets and four rebounds. Isaac McGlone chipped in with seven points and five rebounds. 6-7 Jr. Zach Charles blocked four shots.
