Covington Catholic vs. South Warren

Covington Catholic remains undefeated and defeated South Warren 43-7 to advance to the championship game. Covington Catholic recorded 21 first downs and recorded 480 yards of total offense. The Colonels were penalized four times for 30 yards. South Warren recorded 13 first downs and 288 yards of total offense. They were penalized six times for 74 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted.
AJ Mayer led Covington Catholic’s ground game with 52 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. C. McGinness carried the ball 15 times for 48 yards and a touchdown. G. Dyer added 41 yards on two carries. AJ Mayer completed 18 of 27 passes for 339 yards and four touchdowns. J. Coldiron caught four passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns. S. Schuh added four receptions for 83 yards. M. Pike caught for passes for 64 yards. C. McGinness had three receptions for 31 yards and a touchdown. M. Mayer caught two passes for 21 yards. L. Lenihan added a 20 yard touchdown reception. S. Schuh returned one kickoff for 25 yards. Grant Dyer punted twice for a 47.0 average with a long punt of 48 yards and both his punts inside the 20 yard line. G. Dyer led the defense with six solo and two assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling three yards. J. Maile added four solo tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a five yard loss. D. Summe recorded three solo tackles and recovered a fumble. J. Coldiron intercepted a pass.
C. Winn led South Warren’s ground game with 77 yards on 22 carries. G. Spurrier carried the ball five times for 23 yards. G. Spurrier completed 16 of 27 passes for 188 yards and one touchdown with one interception. M. Elmore caught eight passes for 147 yards and a touchdown. C. Winn added two receptions for 16 yards. C. Bush caught two passes for 12 yards. T. Jackson returned two kickoffs for 44 yards with a long return of 26 yards. T. Jackson led the defense with seven solo tackles. J. Lacey added five solo tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a four yard loss. P. Sparkman recorded three solo tackles with three of his tackles resulting in losses totaling five yards.
