Boyle County vs. Elizabethtown

This game featured two teams with high scoring averages but defense ruled tonight as Boyle County eked out a 14-7 victory over Elizabethtown. The game remained scoreless until the final quarter as both teams traded touchdowns and the score was 7-7. Boyle County finally got a break when Kaden Gervacio intercepted a Tyler Durbin pass at the Elizabethtown 18 yard line with approximately 4:30 left in the game. The Rebels took advantage and took the lead on a one yard run by Landen Bartleson and a conversion kick by Harrison Mesplay to give Boyle County a 14-7 lead with 2:26 left on the clock. Clete Hellyer intercepted a pass with less than 30 seconds left in the game to ensure the victory. Boyle County recorded 13 first downs and 261 yards of total offense. The Rebels were penalized six times for 39 yards and lost a fumble. Elizabethtown recorded 12 first downs and 199 yards of total offense. The Panthers were penalized nine times for 82 yards and had three passes intercepted.
Landen Bartleson led Boyle County’s ground game with 67 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. Tanner Crawford carried the ball eight times for 25 yards. Reed Lanter completed 16 of 25 passes for 166 yards and one touchdown. Nick Walker caught four passes for 56 yards. Reiley Colwick added three receptions for 30 yards. Landen Bartleson also caught three passes for 27 yards. Sam Tiller caught two passes for 22 yards. Reese Smith caught two passes for 21 yards and a touchdown.
Tyler Durbin led Elizabethtown’s ground game with 21 yards on 12 carries. Jay Becherer carried the ball eight times for 19 yards. Tyler Durbin completed 15 of 25 passes for 143 yards and a touchdown with three interceptions. Kass Disney caught five passes for 75 yards and a touchdown. Noah Peeler caught three passes for 23 yards. Jay Becherer added three receptions for 19 yards and Jey Gregory added three catches for 17 yards.
