Danville finishes off a 15-0 season with a 35-21 victory over an old nemesis Mayfield for the Class 2A Championship. D’Mauriae VanCleave added the sizzle to the explosive Danville offense with two rushing touchdowns, one touchdown reception, and a 60 yard punt return for another score. Danville recorded 19 first downs and 353 yards of total offense. The Admirals were penalized four times for 22 yards and had a pass intercepted. Mayfield recorded 16 first downs and 360 yards of total offense. They were penalized six times for 31 yards, lost a fumble, and had three passes intercepted.
D’Mauriae VanCleave led Danville’s ground attack with 103 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries. Donlevy Harris carried the ball 18 times for 68 yards. Zach Thornton added 64 yards on 14 carries. Zach Thornton completed 13 of 17 passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. D’Mauriae VanCleave caught five passes for 42 yards and a touchdown. David Walker added three receptions for 32 yards. Jaleel Warren added two receptions for 25 yards and a touchdown. D’Mauriae VanCleave returned one punt for 60 yards and a touchdown. Donlevy Harris led the defense with nine solo and one assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling eight yards. David Walker added six solo tackles. Chase Tandy recorded four solo tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling eight yards. D’Mauriae VanCleave intercepted two passes, Brennen McGuire intercepted one pass he returned for 23 yards, and James Patton recovered a fumble.
Kyle Hurt led Mayfield’s ground game with 47 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. K. Matthews carried the ball seven times for 34 yards. Jaden Stinson completed 19 of 32 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns with three interceptions. Connor Guthrie completed five of six passes for 34 yards. Jordan Harrison caught six passes for 130 yards and a touchdown. K. Matthews added six receptions for 64 yards. Alonzo Daniel caught three passes for 48 yards and a touchdown. Kyle Hurt led the defense with eight solo and three assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a four yard loss. Denzel Perry added five solo and two assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a two yard loss and intercepted a pass he returned 17 yards. Brady Smith recorded four solo and three assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling four yards.
