Nelson County coach Troy Thomas started the following lineup: 5-10 Sr. Marly Walls, 5-11 Fr. Ella Thompson, 6-0 Sr. Loren Seely, 5-5 So. Zaria Burton, and 5-6 Fr. Amelia Hodges. Lafayette coach Allison Denton countered with 5-9 Sr. Caroline Bennett, 5-9 Sr. Tekiya Garr-Carter, 5-10 Jr. Macey Goff, 5-3 Sr. Terri Abram, and 5-7 Jr. Lindi DeBilzan.
Lafayette raced out to a 22-8 first quarter lead on their way to a 69-57 victory over Nelson County. Lafayette shot 53.7% from the field including five of 14 from the three point line. The Generals connected on 20 of 26 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 17 Nelson County turnovers. Nelson County shot 42% from the field including five of 17 from beyond the arc. The Lady Cards connected on 10 of 17 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 19 Lafayette turnovers.
Terri Abram led Lafayette with 21 points including 13 of 15 free throws and three assists. Caroline Bennett added 19 points including four three point baskets and five rebounds. Lindi DeBilzan recorded 12 points and eight rebounds. Tekiya Garr-Carter also reached double figures with 10 points and four rebounds. Macey Goff added seven points, seven rebounds, three assists, and four steals.
Marly Walls led Nelson County with 25 points, four rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Amelia Hodges added 12 points including two three point baskets. Zaria Burton recorded seven points and five rebounds. Loren Seely chipped in with six points and five rebounds.
