Eastern Kentucky University coach Dan McHale started the following lineup: 6-7 Sr. Zach Charles, 6-6 So. DeAndre Dishman, 6-9 Jr. Nick Mayo, 5-10 Fr. Cameron Carmical, and 6-4 Fr. Dedric Boyd. (Currently EKU is fielding a decimated roster as Asante Gist has transferred, and Jackson Davis, DuJuanta Weaver, and JacQuess Hobbs are on the injured list). Murray State University coach Matt McMahon countered with 6-8 Sr. Terrell Miller Jr., 6-3 Jr. Shaq Buchanan, 6-9 So. Jalen Dupree, 6-0 Sr. Jonathan Stark, and 6-3 Fr. Ja Morant.
Murray State University defeated Eastern Kentucky by a score of 88-73. Murray State shot 61.1% from the field including 11 of 20 from the three point line. The Racers connected on 11 of 17 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 12 points off eight Eastern Kentucky turnovers. Easter Kentucky shot 48.2% from the field including two of 11 from beyond the arc. The Colonels connected on 17 of 26 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Murray State turnovers.
Jonathan Stark led Murray State with 22 points including six three point baskets and five assists. Ja Morant added 16 points, four rebounds, and seven assists. 6-1 Jr. Byron Hopkins also recorded 16 points including three three point baskets. Terrell Miller Jr. recorded 14 points including two three point baskets, 12 rebounds, and three assists.
Nick Mayo led Eastern Kentucky with 25 points and four rebounds. DeAndre Dishman added 16 points, three rebounds, four assists, and six steals. Dedric Boyd chipped in with 12 points and three rebounds.
