Covington Catholic graduated a lot of talent but obviously returned a lot as they dominated play in a 40-7 victory over Ryle. Covington Catholic recorded 18 first downs and 473 yards of total offense. The Colonels were penalized four times for 40 yards. Ryle recorded 11 first downs and 258 yards of total offense. The Raiders were penalized twice for 18 yards, lost two fumbles, and had a pass intercepted.
C. McGinness led Covington Catholic’s ground game with 118 yards and four touchdowns on 13 carries. C. Jacob completed 12 of 15 passes for 294 yards and two touchdowns. Z. Coburn caught four passes for 33 yards. D. Summe added two receptions for 84 yards. J. Coldiron recorded two receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown. J. Schuh caught a 60 yard touchdown pass. M. Mayer led the defense with eight solo and four assisted tackles with three of his tackles resulting in losses totaling seven yards. J. Blank added four solo and three assisted tackles and recovered a fumble. J. Shriver recorded four solo tackles and recovered a fumble. J. Coldiron added three solo tackles and intercepted a pass.
K. England led Ryle’s ground game with 44 yards on 12 carries. J. Smith completed 14 of 27 passes for 182 yards with one touchdown and one interception. M. Inabit caught five passes for 47 yards and a touchdown. S. Clarkson added three receptions for 37 yards. B. Soden recorded two receptions for 46 yards. M. Inabit returned three kickoffs for 56 yards with a long return of 24 yards. E. Cusick led the defense with six solo tackles. L. Bradshaw added five solo and two assisted tackles. J. Saladin recorded five solo and one assisted tackles.
