Scott County utilized their high octane running game (51 carries for 406 yards and six touchdowns) to defeat Simon Kenton by a score of 56-28 to advance in the playoffs. Scott County recorded 23 first downs and 474 yards of total offense. The Cardinals were penalized eight times for 76 yards and had a pass intercepted. Simon Kenton recorded 18 first downs and 353 yards of total offense. The Pioneers were penalized four times for 40 yards, lost a fumble, and had two passes intercepted.
Austin Barnett led Scott County’s ground game with 182 yards and four touchdowns on 23 carries. Bronson Brown carried the ball 16 times for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Payton Brown added 65 yards on seven carries. Cade McKee completed four of seven passes for 68 yards and one touchdown with one interception. Glenn Covington caught three passes for 28 yards and a touchdown. Payton Brown added one reception for 40 yards. Berk Watts led the defense with five solo and four assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 10 yards and recovered a fumble. Matt Fannin added five solo and three assisted tackles. Glenn Covington recorded six solo tackles and intercepted two passes, one he returned 35 yards for a touchdown. Bryan Hudson added three solo and four assisted tackles with 2.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 14 yards.
Jon Sergent led Simon Kenton’s ground game with 148 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries. Caleb Farfsing completed nine of 20 passes for 203 yards with two touchdowns with two interceptions. Jon Sergent caught three passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns. Erik Brown added three receptions for 33 yards. Jon Sergent returned six kickoffs for 131 yards with a long return of 28 yards. Vuk Sajlovic led the defense with six solo and five assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling four yards. Bryson Pernell added seven solo and two assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling five yards. JJ Courtney recorded four solo and four assisted tackles. Brady Nipper added dour solo tackles and intercepted a pass he returned 16 yards.
