Conner vs. Madison Central

Madison County captured their first Football Regional Championship with a 28-27 two overtime victory over Conner. The score was tied 14-14 at the end of regulation and Derrick Miller scored on a nine yard run and Jordan Hatcher kicked the extra point to give Madison Central a 21-14 advantage in the first overtime. Jared Hicks scored on a two yard run and Teddy Schul kicked the extra point to tie the game at 21-21 to force a second overtime. Conner got the ball first and scored on a Christian Webster two yard run but Teddy Schul’s kick failed giving the Cougars a 27-21 lead but leaving the door open for Madison Central. The Indians took advantage as Derrick Miller threw a seven yard touchdown pass to Blake Muntz and Jordan Hatcher kicked the extra point to give Madison Central a 28-27 victory.
Madison Central recorded 14 first downs and 254 yards of total offense. The Indians were penalized eight times for 80 yards and lost two fumbles. Conner recorded 16 first downs and 210 yards of total offense. The Cougars were penalized nine times for 58 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted.
Freddie Chenault led Madison Central’s ground game with 85 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries. Ethan Hahn carried the ball 10 times for 63 yards. Derrick Miller added 29 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Derrick Miller completed seven of 17 passes for 77 yards and a touchdown. Blake Muntz caught five passes for33 yards and a touchdown. Ethan Hahn added two receptions for 44 yards. Jackson Juett led the defense with two solo and 12 assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a two yard loss. Ben Snapp added three solo and seven assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a three yard loss and recovered a fumble he returned seven yards. Nate Storie intercepted a pass he returned 18 yards. Derrick Miller added two solo tackles that resulted in losses totaling 18 yards. Ethan Hahn returned one punt for 28 yards.
Christian Webster led Conner’s ground game with 84 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries. Jared Hicks completed 10 of 28 passes for 127 yards and one touchdown with one interception. Garrett Coghlan caught three passes for 45 yards and a touchdown. Drew Cobble added three receptions for 23 yards. Tate Neiderman caught two passes for 42 yards. Garrett Coghlan returned two kickoffs for 50 yards with a long return of 27 yards. Clayton Boyd led the defense with 10 solo and four assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling four yards. Zane Cahill added two solo and eight assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling two yards. Tate Neiderman recorded foue solo and five assisted tackles. Ayden Camp and Noah Benza each recovered a fumble.
