Eastern Kentucky University coach Chrissy Roberts started the following lineup: 5-11 So. Bria Bass, 5-11 Sr. Abby Wright, 6-2 Sr. Madison Pierce, 5-6 So. Teri Goodlett, and 5-8 Jr. Shay Solomon. Western Michigan University coach Shane Clipsell countered with 5-11 Sr. Meredith Miller, 5-10 Sr. Jasmyn Walker, 6-0 So. Leighah-Amori Wool, 5-7 Sr. Deja Wimby, and 5-7 Jr. Kamrin Reed.
Eastern Kentucky trailed 47-43 after three quarters but Western Michigan pulled away in the final quarter for a 64-53 victory. There were 11 lead changes and seven ties in the game. Western Michigan shot 39.6% from the field including five of 24 from the three point line. They connected on 17 of 21 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 18 Eastern Kentucky turnovers. Eastern Kentucky shot 39.3% from the field including three of 15 from beyond the arc. The Colonels connected on six of nine free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 15 points off nine Western Michigan turnovers.
Meredith Miller led a balanced Western Michigan scoring attack with 12 points including two three point baskets and seven rebounds. Leighah-Amori Wool also scored 12 points including two three point baskets. Jasmyn Walker added 11 points and seven rebounds. Deja Wimby recorded 10 points, six rebounds, six assists, and three steals.
Shay Solomon led Eastern Kentucky with 20 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and two steals. Abby Wright added 16 points and six rebounds. Teri Goodlett recorded eight points and three assists. Bria Bass chipped in with seven points and five rebounds. 6-0 Jr. Catie Kaifes pulled down seven rebounds.
