Mayfield vs. Christian Academy of Louisville

Christian Academy of Louisville made a late defensive stand to ensure a 34-26 victory over Mayfield to capture the championship and improve to 15-0 for the season. CAL recorded 20 first downs and 437 yards of total offense. The Centurions were penalized nine times for 61 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted. Mayfield recorded 15 first downs and 382 yards of total offense. The Cardinals were penalized twice for 20 yards and lost a fumble.
Brandt Babin led CAL’s ground game with 168 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries. Milton Wright carried the ball eight times for 99 yards and two touchdowns. Anthony Sabatino completed eight of 15 passes for 159 yards and one touchdown with one interception. Jake Saathoff caught three passes for 87 yards. Brandt Babin added three receptions for 42 yards. Luke Paulson caught a 17 yard touchdown pass. Austin Collins led the defense with four solo and five assisted tackles with 2.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling seven yards and recovered a fumble. Luke Paulson added three solo and seven assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a four yard loss. Elijah Smith recorded four solo and one assisted tackles.
Kent Trey Matthews led Mayfield’s ground game with 47 yards on 18 carries. Connor Guthrie carried the ball eight times for 35 yards and two touchdowns. Jaden Stinson completed 16 of 30 passes for 306 yards and two touchdowns. Kade Neely caught five passes for 143 yards and a touchdown. Diaz Perry added five receptions for 86 yards. Connor Guthrie caught four passes for 66 yards and a touchdown. Diaz Perry returned three kickoffs for 47 yards with a long return of 21 yards. Kent Trey Matthews returned three kickoffs for 54 yards with a long return of 19 yards. Alonzo Daniel led the defense with four solo and four assisted tackles and intercepted a pass he returned 27 yards. Derrick Smith added four solo and one assisted tackles. Ethan Couch recorded three solo and one assisted tackles.
