Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman started the following lineup: 6-3 Jr. Luke Wedding, 6-2 Sr. John Poulton, 6-6 Sr. Brice Scott, 5-11 Sr. Patrick Geogehegan, and 6-1 So. Ben Johnson. Paul Laurence Dunbar coach Scott Chalk countered with 6-7 Sr. Trevor Rogers, 6-3 Sr. Michael Corio, 6-8 Jr. Rabby Kamona, 6-1 Sr. Grayson Shively, and 6-2 Sr. Jared Gadd.
Ben Johnson nailed a three point basket at the buzzer to give Lexington Catholic a 43-42 victory over Paul Laurence Dunbar. The score was tied seven times and there were five lead changes in the game. Paul Dunbar led 25-18 in the first half but Lexington Catholic rallied for a big district victory. Lexington Catholic shot 33.3% from the field including six of 24 from the three point line. The Knights connected on nine of 16 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 22 Dunbar turnovers. Dunbar shot 46.7% from the field including five of 12 from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs connected on nine of 17 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored nine points off 16 Lexington Catholic turnovers.
Ben Johnson led Lexington Catholic with 16 points including four three point baskets, four rebounds, and three assists. Patrick Geogehegan added nine points, three rebounds, four assists, and four steals. John Poulton recorded seven points. Brice Scott chipped in with four points and eight rebounds.
Grayson Shively led Dunbar with 12 points on four three point baskets. Jared Gadd added 11 points. Trevor Rogers recorded six points.
