Waggener coach Bryan O’Neill started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. Jaago Kalakon, 6-2 Sr. Kameron Barnett, 6-3 Jr. Dallas Rufus, 6-0 Jr. Dezmond White, and 6-1 Sr. Kevion Hudson.  Lafayette coach Mike Mendenhall III countered with 5-10 Sr. Evan Dreux, 5-8 Sr. Caleb True, 6-9 Jr. Ray Surratt, 5-5 So. Daniel Kinley, and 5-6 So. Campbell DeYoung.

 

Waggener raced out to a 16-7 first quarter lead on their way to a 70-57 victory over Lafayette.  Waggener shot 56% from the field including eight of 15 from the three point line.  The Wildcats connected on six of 12 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 16 Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot 39.2% from the field including three of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Generals connected on 14 of 20 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 17 Waggener turnovers. 

 

Jaago Kalakon led Waggener with 23 points including three three point baskets, 12 rebounds, and four assists.  6-4 Sr. Nicholas Brewer added 14 points.  Dallas Rufus recorded 12 points and six rebounds.  5-9 Sr. Jacobi Hendricks chipped in with 10 points, three rebounds, and three assists.

 

Ray Surratt led Lafayette with 18 points, eight rebounds, and three steals.  5-9 So. Devin Johnson added 16 points and four rebounds.
