Eastern Kentucky University coach A.W. Hamilton started the following lineup: 6-8 Fr. Tre King, 6-2 Jr. Kelvin Robinson, 6-9 Sr. Nick Mayo, 5-10 Jr. Dujuanta Weaver, and 6-2 So. JacQuess Hobbs. Duquesne coach Keith Dambrot countered with 6-6 So. Eric Williams Jr., 6-4 So. Frankie Hughes, 6-8 So. Michael Hughes, 5-8 So. Tavian Dunn-Martin, and 6-1 Fr. Sincere Carry.
Duquesne defeated Eastern Kentucky University 85-84 in overtime. Eric Williams Jr. backed his defender down and score on a left handed hook with 17 seconds left to give Duquesne what proved to be the winning basket. Eastern Kentucky had a chance for the tie when Tre King hit the first of two free throws but missed the second as Duquesne held on for the victory. There were nine ties and nine lead changes in the game.
Duquesne shot 43.1% from the field including seven of 26 from the three point line. They connected on 22 of 32 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 21 Eastern Kentucky turnovers. Eastern Kentucky shot 42.7% from the field including six of 27 from beyond the arc. The Colonels connected on 14 of 18 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 21 Duquesne turnovers.
Eric Williams Jr. led Duquesne with 21 points including four three point baskets, 14 rebounds, and three steals. Sincere Carry added 14 points, five rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Michael Hughes recorded 13 points and nine rebounds. Frankie Hughes and Tavian Dunn-Martin each scored 12 points.
Nick Mayo led Eastern Kentucky with 18 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and four blocked shots. Dujuanta Weaver also scored 18 points including four three point baskets, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals. 6-2 Fr. Jomaru Brown recorded 15 points and four rebounds. Kelvin Robinson chipped in with 14 points, five rebounds, and nine assists. Tre King pulled down nine rebounds.
