Estill County vs. Lexington Catholic (Girls)

Estill County coach Ruth Hughes started the following lineup: 5-6 8th Grade Haley Angel, 5-7 Fr. Mia Hale, 5-7 Fr. Hannah Baker, 5-4 Sr. Kiely Flynn, and 5-4 Sr. Meagan Bellamy.  Lexington Catholic coach Scott True Sr. countered with 5-9 Fr. Chloe Treece, 5-8 Sr. Maylo Given, 5-7 So. Farah Weldon, 5-5 Sr. Catey Nash, and 5-8 Sr. Jay Ballard.

 

Estill County led 38-35 mid way through the third quarter but Lexington Catholic rallied for a 61-47 victory.  Lexington Catholic’s depth and foul woes plagued the Lady Engineers as Estill County was whistled for 25 fouls leading to Lexington Catholic’s 27 points from the free throw line and losing two starters via the foul route.

 

Lexington Catholic shot 34.9% from the field including four of 15 from the free throw line.  The Lady Knights connected on 27 of 36 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 19 Estill County turnovers.  Lexington Catholic also held an 18-3 advantage in bench scoring.  Estill County shot 32.6% from the field including three of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Engineers connected on 14 of 21 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 12 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

 

Chloe Treece led Lexington Catholic with 17 points including 10 of 12 free throws and four rebounds.  Jay Ballard added 15 points including three three point baskets and four rebounds.  5-8 So. Aerial West recorded 13 points including five of six free throws and three rebounds.  Maylo Given added eight points and seven rebounds.

 

Kiely Flynn led Estill County with 14 points including five of five free throws and three rebounds.  Meagan Bellamy added 10 points, seven rebounds, and two assists.  Mia Hale recorded nine points, nine rebounds, and two assists.  Haley Angel also scored nine points.
