Southeast Missouri coach Rick Day started the following lineup: 6-7 So. Isaiah Gable, 6-5 Jr. Skyler Hogan, 6-8 Fr. Sage Tolbert, 6-0 Fr. Alex Caldwell, and 6-5 So. Ledarrius Brewer. Eastern Kentucky University coach A.W. Hamilton countered with 6-8 Fr. Tre King, 6-4 Fr. Houston King, 6-9 Sr. Nick Mayo, 5-10 Jr. Dujuanta Weaver, and 6-2 Jr. Kelvin Robinson.
6-2 So. JacQuess Hobbs raced coast-to-coast and hit a runner at the buzzer to give Eastern Kentucky University an 85-83 victory over Southeast Missouri. Eastern Kentucky led 77-66 with less than four minutes remaining and tied the score at 83-83 with eight seconds remaining to set the stage for Hobbs’ heroics. Eastern Kentucky shot 50% from the field including nine of 22 from the three point line. The Colonels connected on 22 of 33 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 12 Southeast Missouri turnovers. Southeast Missouri shot 45.6% from the field including eight of 20 from beyond the arc. The Redhawks connected on 23 of 29 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 15 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.
Nick Mayo led Eastern Kentucky with 24 points including two three point baskets, eight rebounds, and four assists. 6-2 Fr. Jomaru Brown added 17 points including three three point baskets and seven rebounds. Tre King recorded 10 points, four rebounds, and three assists. 6-8 Jr. Lachlan Anderson added seven points and seven rebounds.
Skyler Hogan led Southeast Missouri with 20 points including 10 of 13 free throws and five rebounds. Ledarrius Brewer added 14 points including three three point baskets and two steals. Alex Caldwell also reached double digits with 10 points.
