Kentucky Inaugural 2A Girls Championship

Scott vs. Christian Academy of Louisville

Owensboro Sportscenter

January 20, 2019

 

Christian Academy of Louisville went on an 8-2 run in the final 1:17 of the game to earn a 49-40 victory over Scott to earn the inaugural championship of this event.  CAL shot 34.7% from the field including five of 13 from the three point line.  The Centurions connected on 10 of 15 free throws and pulled down 28 rebounds.  Scott shot 27.3% from the field including one of seven from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on nine of 12 free throws and pulled down 37 rebounds. 

 

5-10 Jr. Shelby Calhoun led CAL with 13 points and 10 rebounds.  6-2 Sr. Arina Khlopkova added 13 points and six rebounds.  5-9 Sr. Sarah McDonald and 5-8 Jr. Mia Beam recorded nine and eight points respectively.  5-7 Fr. Jayla McClure added six points and seven rebounds.  Shelby Calhoun was named Tournament MVP and was joined on the all-tournament team by teammates Mia Beam, Jayla McClure, and Arina Khlopkova.

 

5-10 So. Mya Meredith led Scott with 19 points including seven of eight free throws and 12 rebounds.  5-9 So. Sofia Allen added nine points and eight rebounds.  5-6 Sr. Emma Profitt recorded four points and eight rebounds.  Mya Meredith, Sofia Allen, and Summer Secrist were named to the all-tournament team.
