Tennessee State University coach Brian Collins started the following lineup: 6-7 Jr. Emmanuel Egbuta, 6-4 Jr. Kamar McKnight, 6-8 Jr. Stokley Chaffee Jr., 5-10 Jr. Michael Littlejohn, and 6-3 Jr. Tripp Davis. Eastern Kentucky University utilized a careen night by Jomaru Brown (30 points) to defeat Tennessee State University by a score of 75-65. Tennessee State led by nine in the first half and there were eight lead changes and five ties in the game. Eastern Kentucky shot 38.2% from the field including three of 14 from the three point line. The Colonels connected on 30 of 34 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 17 Tennessee State turnovers. Tennessee State shot 36.4% from the field including nine of 27 from beyond the arc. The Tigers connected on eight of 11 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 14 Eastern Kentucky turnovers. Tennessee State committed 28 fouls and lost two starters Egbuta and Chaffee Jr. via the foul route.
Jomaru Brown led Eastern Kentucky with 30 points including nine of 12 free throws, five rebounds, and four assists. 6-8 Fr. Tre King added 12 points including eight of eight free throws, four rebounds, and two blocked shots. Kelvin Robinson recorded 10 points including six of six free throws and nine rebounds. Nick Mayo chipped in with nine points, 12 rebounds, and three blocked shots.
Michael Littlejohn led Tennessee State with 16 points including three three point baskets and four assists. Kamar McKnight added 12 points. 6-4 Jr. Donte Fitzpatrick-Dorsey recorded nine points on three three point baskets and five rebounds. Stokley Chaffee Jr. added eight points and eight rebounds. Tripp Davis chipped in with eight points and five rebounds.
