Scott County coach Billy Hicks started the following lineup: 6-1 Sr. Bryce Long. 6-0 Sr. Lorenzo Williams, 6-7 Sr. Michael Moreno, 5-9 Sr. Diablo Stewart, and 6-0 Sr. Glenn Covington.  Covington Catholic coach Scott Ruthsatz countered with 6-8 Sr. Nick Thelen, 6-4 Sr. Tyler Fleek, 6-6 Jr. Neil Green, 5-10 Jr. Grant Disken, and 6-5 Sr. Jack Davin.

 

Scott County led by 22 points 48-26 with 5:47 but had to withstand a furious rally by Covington Catholic to earn a 64-61 victory.  Scott County’s primary ball handler Diablo Stewart fouled out at the 2:47 mark and Scott County leading 55-37.  Scott County led 60-41 with 1;34 left in the game but Covington Catholic went on an 18-0 run to make the score 60-59 with 23 second remaining on the game.  Lorenzo Williams scored on a layup to give Scott County a 62-59 lead but Grant Disken countered with two free throws to make the score 62-61.  Glenn Covington connected on two free throws with two seconds remaining to give Scott County a 64-61 lead.  Joseph Moser missed a three point attempt at the buzzer to allow Scott County to escape with a hard earned victory. 

 

Scott County shot 50% from the field including six of 13 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 26 of 33 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 16 Covington Catholic turnovers.  Covington Catholic shot 41.3% from the field including seven of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on 16 of 25 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 16 Scott County turnovers.

 

Glenn Covington led Scott County with 15 points including two three point baskets and seven of eight free throws.  Diablo Stewart added 12 points including nine of 10 free throws.  Bryce Long recorded 12 points including two three point baskets, and six of six free throws.  Lorenzo Williams added eight points, seven rebounds, two assists, and three steals.  Michael Moreno recorded six points, five rebounds, and two blocked shots.

 

6-6 Jr. Michael Mayer led Covington Catholic with 18 points including eight of 14 free throws, 10 rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Grant Disken added 16 points including four three point baskets and five rebounds.  Tyler Fleek recorded eight points including six of seven free throws.  Nick Thelen added eight points, three rebounds, and three blocked shots.
